Walk the Thames are pleased to announce that the first phase of our web development is now complete and our route planner is now live.
The planner helps you build your own Walk The Thames package by allowing you to choose how far to walk and where to stay. The route planner shows distances between all points to the nearest 1/10th of a mile.
We have pre-selected a range of accommodations to suit different budgets. Aside from pubs and hotels of differing prices, we also offer bed and breakfasts, some self-catering accommodations, shepherds huts and a gypsy caravan; and the use of cultural institutions including the National Sports Centre at Bisham Abbey and the London School of Economics.
You don’t have to start at the beginning. You don’t have to end at the end. And you can walk in any direction. The choice is yours.
The next phase will see the rollout of an interactive map that shows, in addition to accommodation, points of interest, transport links, shops, restaurants, and paid attractions.
The interactive map is free to use. You don’t have to book accommodation through us to use the site.
It is unfortunate that completion of this work should coincide with the tragedy that is unfolding before our eyes. And we do not know what the future holds or when normality will resume. Therefore we are not taking bookings at this time.
However, we invite you to take a look at the tool and perhaps start planning for happier times.
