2024 Online Events
The 2024 season started in January, earlier than usual. That’s because we’re taking a 3 week break in February. So we’ve decided to run them in two cycles either side of the break. Note also the different days of the two cycles.
All our webinars are at 8pm GMT. This just about allows us to bridge across to the US and Canada in the afternoon as well as Australia and New Zealand in early morning.
If you find them to be informative and you wish to contribute to the running costs, you can do so by clicking on the Donate button which will take you to Paypal. Note: you don’t need a Paypal account to donate – any payment card will work.
Here’s our schedule. Please use the forms below to book your place.

Tuesday January 9 2024 8pm GMT: Thames Path Overview
This is an introduction to the Thames Path. We talk about the type of accommodation available; public transport; weather and path conditions; topography of the walk; flora, fauna and points of interest.
Tuesday January 16 2024 8pm GMT: Thames Path: Source to Oxford
This is perhaps the most popular stretch of the Thames for walkers. We look at some suggested stopovers, places prone to flooding with suggested workarounds, public transport options, and some of the sites to see in Oxford.
Tuesday January 23 2024 8pm GMT: Thames Path: Oxford to Reading
This 3-4 day section goes past some beautiful spots. We look at some available accommodation, suggested detours including a way to avoid the “Moulsford mile” road walk, public transport options, festivals including Swan Upping (pictured) and numerous points of interest.
Tuesday January 30 2024 8pm GMT: Ridgeway National Trail Overview
We take a break from the Thames Path and introduce you to The Ridgeway National Trail, an 87 mile walk that intersects the Thames at Goring. The first half of the walk is through the Marlborough and Berkshire Downs. After crossing the Thames it follows a line through the Chilterns. We look at accommodation options along the way and explain how The Ridgeway is a walk through history.

Thursday February 29 2024 8pm GMT: Thames Path Reading to Staines
This 3-4 day section will take you into rowing country and past some grand houses. There’s Henley and Marlow with their regattas. And the white deer of Culham Court and Cliveden House which once belonged to the Astors. And, of course, there’s Windsor! Aside from showing some available accommodation, we will also show you some options for avoiding the detour at Temple Bridge which is likely to remain in place throughout the season.
Thursday March 7 2024 8pm GMT: Thames Path Staines to Woolwich
This section is about 5 miles and is usually taken leisurely over 4-5 days as there’s so much to see, especially as you will be walking through the heart of London. From Teddington Lock, which is about half-way along, the Path splits and you can walk on either bank of the river as far as Greenwich. We’ll tell you which side we prefer. But the choice is yours! Affordable quality accommodation is always challenging and we’ll make some suggestions. We’ll also let you know how to get back from the end, which is now at Woolwich, a mile beyond the Thames Barrier, so that it links with the English Coastal Path.
