Henley Festival is one of the many events along the Thames Path. It starts on Wednesday July 8 and closes on Sunday July 12. Expect accommodation to be busy during those periods. This year’s line up has just been announced with ska group Madness opening the festival.
On Thursday, James Blunt will be performing.
Friday will see Sophie Ellis-Bexter with her vibrant mix of mainstream pop, disco and 1980’s electronic sounds, followed by Sara Cox, who will perform her her fabulous show ‘Just Can’t Get Enough 80s’.
Saturday is disco night with Kathy Sledge from Sister Sledge and a 35 piece orchestra.
The festival concludes on Sunday with a performance by the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra featuring mainly military music and hosted by Classic FM’s Myleene Klaas.
Tickets go on general sale on Thursday 6 February and are available from the Henley Festival website.
The festival uses the grandstand from the previous week’s Henley Royal Regatta, one of many events along the Thames Path during the summer. The stage floats on the Thames. If you are walking the Thames Path during the festival, you can expect a small diversion as the festival takes place on the same side of the river as the footpath.
