Another Lockdown
Sadly we are back in lockdown. This has meant cancelling all our packages and baggage transport services booked for November. All refunds were processed within 48 hours of the announcement. We are, of course, able to take bookings for post lock-down.
So, what can we all do now? Households (plus bubbles) can walk together for exercise (apparently without limits). We are even allowed to drive to a place of exercise – although its unclear how far we’re allowed to go. We would urge anyone reading this to follow the spirit of the lock-down by not travelling too far. Incidentally, the gardens of the National Trust and the Royal Horticultural Society appear to be open so now is a good time to explore these. Hopefully all this will be behind us soon!
In the meantime, here is a glimpse of what we might be missing.
Website News
For those who like to visit our Thames Path distances page (and there are many!), you might be interested to know that we’ve added quite a number of points to the list, particularly around London.
Our updated Route Planner should be live from Friday.
Accommodation News
We’ve added a hotel to our list: it’s the Oxford Townhouse which is a short walk from Folly Bridge. This simple small hotel is popular amongst Thames Path walkers. A cooked breakfast is included but no other meals are available. It’s located just a short walk from Abingdon Road Bridge – also known as Folly Bridge – not far from the city centre. By Oxford standards its relatively affordable and we’ve classified it as “Silver” in our packages.
Route News
As we are not moving bags at the moment, we are largely relying on the Environment Agency website for reports – together with what we can see locally. Although the river is flowing quite fast and some of the paths are becoming muddy, we’re not aware of any issues.
