Rail disruption around Swindon

GWR have announced significant disruption on trains in and out of Swindon. This may impact Thames Path walkers in the upper stretches. The disruption was caused by a train hitting a passenger somewhere between Swindon and Bristol Parkway. Disruption is expected throughout the morning.

Levels back to normal and ferry now operating

River levels are back to normal with no flood warnings and only 4 flood alerts according to the Environment Agency. The flood alerts are at Lechlade, Oxford, Abingdon and Chertsey. Water levels receding but ferry still cancelled

Water levels remain high throughout the River Thames with flood alerts in place at Cricklade, Lechlade, Oxford, Abingdon, Dorchester, Mapledurham, Sonning, Shiplake, Henley, Hurley, Cookham, Cherstey, Shepperton and Kingston. Check the Environment Agency reports here. Footpaths will be underwater in many places throughout the river. The ferry at Shepperton is still out of action.

Weybridge ferry cancelled

Due to the current speed and height of the river, we understand that the Weybridge ferry from Shepperton (which takes walkers from the left bank across to the right bank between Chertsey and Hampton Court has been cancelled.  Water levels remain high but the outlook for walking  the Thames is definitely improving.
