2025/26 Online Events
Our webinars are now finished for the season. We hope you enjoyed them.
We are planning on publishing recorded webinars for the 2025/26 winter. Each webinar is listed below. Stay tuned as we’ll soon have some of these live with details of how to access them.
Thames Path Overview
This is an introduction to the Thames Path. We talk about the type of accommodation available; public transport; weather and path conditions; topography of the walk; flora, fauna and points of interest.
Thames Path: Source to Oxford
This is perhaps the most popular stretch of the Thames for walkers. We look at some suggested stopovers, places prone to flooding with suggested workarounds, public transport options, and some of the sites to see in Oxford.
Thames Path: Oxford to Reading
This 3-4 day section will take you through some history: with neolithic hillforts, a Roman town, abbey ruins and a medieval castle. It’s perhaps the prettiest section of the Thames as it works its way down the side of the Chilterns and through the Goring Gap.
Thames Path: Reading to Staines
This 3-4 day section will take you into rowing country and past some grand houses. There’s Henley and Marlow with their regattas. And the white deer of Culham Court and Cliveden House which once belonged to the Astors. And, of course, there’s Windsor! Aside from showing some available accommodation, we will also show you some options for avoiding the three detours which are likely to remain in place throughout the season.
Thames Path: Staines to Woolwich
This section is about 50 miles and is usually taken leisurely over 4-5 days as there’s so much to see, especially as you will be walking through the heart of London. From Teddington Lock, which is about half-way along, the Path splits and you can walk on either bank of the river as far as Greenwich. We’ll tell you which side we prefer. But the choice is yours! Affordable quality accommodation is always challenging and we’ll make some suggestions. We’ll also let you know how to get back from the end, which is now at Woolwich, a mile beyond the Thames Barrier, so that it links with the English Coastal Path.
The Ridgeway
We introduce you to The Ridgeway National Trail, an 87 mile walk that intersects the Thames at Goring. The first half of the walk is through the Marlborough and Berkshire Downs. After crossing the Thames it follows a line through the Chilterns. We look at accommodation options along the way and explain how The Ridgeway is a walk through history.
Camino Ingles/St James’ Way
This 87 mile walk was new to us in 2024. It’s the only officially recognised route to Santiago de Compostela in England, starting at the ruins of Reading Abbey where the Hand of St James used to rest; and arriving at Southampton where pilgrim ships used to sail for A Coruna in northern Spain.
