About Us
Walking the Thames Path National Trail
A little bit about us
Walk the Thames is run by Richard and Elsa who live near Mapledurham Lock, which happens to be the exact half-way point on the Thames Path National Trail. Richard and Elsa have lived overseas much of their lives but returned to the UK in 2011. Richard is a keen walker and cyclist having recently re-walked the Pennine Way and cycled to Brussels and Paris. Elsa also enjoys the outdoors and has walked the Dales Way and the St James’ Way with Richard. Being close to the Thames Path National Trail they have walked this in sections, most of it with their beloved dog Demon who sadly died in 2019.
We are very excited to have launched Walk the Thames which we believe to be a novel concept. Please see our How it Works page to learn more.
What makes us different?
There are three main reasons that make us different…..
-
1
We are local. So we know what’s happening on the ground. We are the first to know of any flooding issues (which happens from time to time although mostly in winter) and will let you know immediately.
-
2
We don’t use taxis or couriers for baggage transfers. We do it ourselves. And, because we are up and down the route every day, we can help you if you need anything. We are never far away.
-
3
We operate a "high touch" service, maintaining regular contact with you throughout your walk. More often than not, we will see you at some point on your walk - whether it be at the hotel or on the trail itself.
